According to a study by The Queens Dentist, children under six years who ingest large amounts of fluoride in the type of toothpaste have a higher risk of developing fluorosis. That is a nice reason for children under six years to not using toothpaste with high fluoride content.
Fluoridated toothpaste may cause fluorosis. Though it can protect your mouth, this helpful chemical may even be harmful if used excessively. Fluor sis is a condition caused by ingestion of excessive amounts of this chemical. It may cause discoloration or mottling of the teeth, in children.
This situation is avoidable in the event you get toothpaste with healthy fluoride content. In that same study, it suggested having toothpaste with a lower concentration. The study recommends that children use a toothpaste with no over 1,400 parts per million (PPM). This is key to avoiding fluorosis & maintaining affordable dental care.
Get a toothpaste for your infant that has no over 1,400 PPM & no less than one,000 PPM of fluoride. If the toothpaste has over 1,400 PPM, it may cause fluorosis. This is something to keep away from for both the sake of health & for the appearance of your child’s teeth. If the toothpaste has less than 1,000 PPM, then only as effective as non-fluoridated toothpaste at stopping tooth decay.
Having healthy gums & teeth or correctly fitted dentures is very important for overall health & a feeling of wellbeing. Our teeth are on show to others when they smirk, as well as for lots of us it’s important for confidence & self esteem to feel that our teeth look acceptable.
Although teeth are protected by a hard layer of enamel, they could become worn-out from improper tooth brushing.
